Ruby Tuesday

This is an Oleander flower. Some people don't care for this plant but it makes a good hedge. Grows about 12-15 feet high and needs little water. The flowers are pink, white and red.

I like flowering hedges - they're much more interesting, especially with such large flowers :).

Wow, that's just beautiful. My niece lives in AZ. I should ask her if she has any oleanders. It really is just lovely.

When we first moved to the desert (Las Vegas) we were in a rental and one day my mom (visiting from Arkansas) picked some oleander and brought it into the house for a centerpiece. Some Vegas natives stopped by to welcome us and were horrified. It turns out oleander is poisonous and I had toddlers in the house! Oops! They sure are pretty though! Thanks for the photo.

Ah, so though they are beautiful (and this one certainly is) they are rather like Sleeping Beauty's apple, huh?

I think that I read a book where a boyfriend was poisoned using oleander and it was later made into a movie...darn..can't think of the name...
